As a few of you already know I am the new owner of the Slightly Confused 1968 Bay Window Bus with a "Late" front panel.....

I know a few of you "Know" of this bus as it still wears its original 1968 "DROSJE" Licence plate Gliser

From what I can tell this bus was put to work from new as a 8 seater "DROSJE" on the West Coast of norway....

I know it was still working as a taxi up until 1982..... See the sticker in the back window  Glad

After this it gets a little fuzzy...... I know it was sold by the original owner to a family member/friend and I have heard it moved to the "Moss" area  Tvilende

Then in 2008 my friend/landlord/neighbor "Olsen" of OLSEN GLASS here in Fredrikstad brought it and had the EX Norwegian Hammerworks fit all the goodies it now has.....

- Dropped spindles
- Narrowed/adjustable front beam
- Wilwood 4pot drilled/vented front brakes
- Rear Disc brakes
- Adjustable spring plates


And now I have it......

I would REALLY like to find out  little more history of this bus when it was a "DROSJE"  Glad

I would LOVE to see some pictures of this bus or any other Bay window buses that were taxi's here in Norway.....

What "Sign-Writing" did they have???
What extra lights/sign did they have???

I have worked out that it had some kind of "Lamp" over the drivers front corner and maybe an "Antena" bolted to the rear panel......

Let me know what you know guys & girls - it would be cool to put together the history of this slightly confused 1968 "DROSJE"  Glad

Wish I could have brought her along yesterday but I had a ride that was a little faster and more "Fun" on the roads over to HotShop  Blunker Glad

Back to the bus....... I have heard it was "Parked-Up" in the Moss area before it came to fredrikstad in 2008/9

I think this was the "Second Owner"  Tvilende

Anyone know more about this  Hæ Glad

To get a list of previous owners you just have to call or stop by Biltilsynet (Statens Vegvesen) and give them the registration number. Some of the older info is probably found in an old manual archive and will have to be searched for. Drop me a line if you need help with this  Glad

Interesting to know it was first registration was 31st August 1968.....

It was only "Built" on the 22nd June!
Apparently ordered as a STANDARD "Clipper" 8 seater microbus WITH "deluxe" options...
- Belt line trim
- Cab vent windows
- Rear vent windows
- Spare wheels cover
- Chrome trim on interior panels
- Glove box lid

This makes it an "Early 68" meaning a lot of it parts are "6 month only" parts......

- the wiper arms/spindles
- the ignition barrel
- the steering coloum
- the speedo/fuel gauge
- the indicator arm
- the dash vents
- the rear brake drums/backing plates
- the bumper mounts
- etc etc etc

I would love to hear any info on OTHER norwegian VW DROSJE....... Pictures would be GREAT  Glad

best way for you to find out history etc is via "the biltilsyn" they can give you the list of owners on the car and you then can call them/first owner if he/she is still up'n running

as far as i know , it would have had a taxi sign on the roof , similar to todays taxi rooflights. and it would also have had a taxameter linked to the speedometerwire, and also to a vakuum outlet on the engine(more vakuum, faster billing on the cashmeter..)

not sure what they used as radio back then but i can easily think that it might have had som kind of cb radio for intern taxi use. so it would have had a large antenna somewhere

Hey thanks for dropping in buddy  Glad

I know realise why all the "Dash-Electric's" were in such bad shape when I got her.......

I guess the original owner Removed all the Taxi Stuff when he retired, It was also "Up-dated" with a Hella Hazard light kit AND a intermitant kit for the wipers.....

Also the wiper arms were Updated to the later 69 type, I suspect this happened along with the front panel  Tvilende

You should give it a nose job to make it perfect Osteaktig LOBOPAPPA had an early clipper with late front just like this one. He and his mate filled in the indicators and cut away/welded the "bumper lip" to make the face pretty again.
