Lutz er med. Sønnen også med en Honda Civic V8 turbo.

Så langt ingen 5 sek run og kun noen få 6 sekundersbiler. Men vel verdt å se på allikevel.

Resultatene etter dag 1 finner dere her: http://www.hotrod.com/events/hot-rod-drag-week/2015/1509-drag-week-2015-race-results-day-1/

In the Unlimited class, Jeff Lutz threw down the fastest-ever Drag Week pass with this Camaro Pro Mod car, running 6.051 at 251 miles per hour. We expected Tom Bailey’s own Pro Mod Camaro to give Lutz a run for both the Drag Week ET average and the first 5-second Drag Week car, but Bailey struggled to get the power down on both of his runs. He had to pedal the car multiple times in each pass and settled for a 7.272 run. The real test for both cars will be how the Pro Mods handle the street driving portion with 266.5 miles to tomorrow’s race at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis. Dave Schroeder’s Corvette clocked a 7.478 run to sit third in class.

Frafallet er stort og nå er det kun 1 Pro Mod racerbil igjen;

The Unlimited class got a major shake-up when overall leader Jeff Lutz retired from Drag Week 2015 after a number of failures on the road from Gateway Motorsports Park. Lutz hadn't slept as of 8 a.m. when a fuel pump failure left him on the side of the road 50 miles from Indianapolis. Tom Bailey took advantage of that opportunity with his first full-throttle pass in his Pro Mod Camaro, running 6.355 at 224.96 mph to give him a 6.814-second average e.t. That puts Bailey in the overall lead.

However, it was Bryant Goldstone's 6.788 run in his Unlimited Iron 1973 AMC Javelin that might have been the pass of the day. That lap gives him a 6.884 average for the week, only 0.0705-second behind Bailey. That also makes him the only driver in Drag Week who could possibly have an all-6-second Drag Week 2015 and if he manages that, he’d be only the third driver to do so after Tom Bailey (2013) and Doug Cline (2014).

Elsewhere in Unlimited, John Faraone made a monster 7.49 run in his Australian Valiant Charger, which was his best Drag Week run by nearly half a second, but it was David Schroeder's Corvette making a last-minute 7.142 run that vaults him into contention for the overall win. Joe Barry's quick 7.045 run gives him a 7.080 average to put his creamsicle Bel Air third in the overall standings. Don Foess’ absolutely insane big-block Chevy Chevette ran a 7.986 with just a couple minutes left in the day, but Foess has to head home for family reasons. You won’t see him for the rest of the week, but you can see expect to see more on Foess and his Chevette in HOT ROD soon.

The real exciting race for the week looks like it could very well be Pro Street Power Adder. Just 0.47 second separates the top three in class with Matthew Blasco's blacked-out Dodge Dart leading in its debut with a 7.791 average. Glenn Hunter's Bel Air has averaged 7.824 with Tom McGilton's HOT ROD cover car Camaro ZL1 knocking down his average to 7.838 with a 7.730 pass this afternoon.

Rick Prospero's big-block-Chevy-powered Mazda RX-7 leads Modified Power Adder by 0.4 seconds over Peter Johnson's Mustang. In Modified Naturally Aspirated, Brad Dyer made his first 9-second pass, which would be a class record if Jay Brown hadn't shown up. Brown's Mustang ran 8.885 to give him an 8.901 average for the week.

In Super Street Big-Block Power Adder, George Gallimore's big Monte Carlo has run two monstrous passes to lead with a 7.673 average. Frank Saponaro's Nova wagon has averaged 7.860 with a pair of supremely consistent passes (7.859, 7.862) so there's absolutely no margin for error in that pair. In the Super Street Small Block Power Adder class, Calvin Hayward's pink Mustang ran a 7.589 pass early and booked for Union Grove, Wisconsin, with Steven Forrester trailing by more than 0.3 second with a 7.915 average e.t.

In Super Street Big-Block Naturally Aspirated and Super Street Small-Block Naturally Aspirated, the only two drivers with 9-second runs lead: Vincent Rasch in his Pontiac Firebird (9.658) and Jeffrey Sias in his Ford Mustang (9.931), respectively.

Curtis Johnson has dominated Street Race Big-Block Naturally Aspirated for the last two Drag Weeks with his black Mustang and that trend certainly looks to continue. He ran 8.962 yesterday and clipped 0.03 off his run today to give a 8.947 average e.t., nearly a half-second clear of Scott Miller’s Cougar. Doug Flynn’s Nova also leads substantially in Street Race Big-Block Power Adder by 0.350 with an 8.593 average e.t.

In the day’s frenetic pace, we missed runs by two of the top three Street Race Small-Block Power Adder contenders, but as best as we can figure, it’s still Kyle Bemount, Chris Bishir, and James Bailey, Eric Anderson, and Ralph Hoke all covered by a couple tenths of a second. When all time slips have been handed in and the official times are posted, we’ll have an update.

Just 0.08 second cover the top three in Street Race Small-Block Naturally Aspirated. Danny Roberts’ “metallic antifreeze” Malibu has averaged 9.539 and was hunting for hundredths of a second with multiple runs to give some breathing room over Jason Tabscott, whose Camaro hovers just 0.045 seconds behind. Kevin Payne’s Mustang is definitely in the mix at 9.612. The pace of this class, by the way, is far faster than it’s ever been. The previous best average e.t. for the whole week was a 9.976 and the previous fastest single pass was 9.739. Three cars are averaging faster than that already.

The Gasser classes have been as entertaining as was hoped with great-looking old cars. In Gasser A, Noel Brigance’s Ford Ranchero bogged down on launch all day, coughing up a 1.3-second lead with his first pass, but taking the lead back with an 11.583-second pass to average 10.534. Brigance is the defending champion, though Dennis Taylor drove it to the class win last year. Just behind, however, is Jim Forbes’ Chevy II, which has averaged 10.642. We’re not sure anyone would have predicted a gap less than 0.10 second in this class. Mike Cox is the only Drag Weeker to run Gasser every year since its inception in 2011 and he trails Daniel Chisholm’s Chevy 210 in Gasser B by half a second.

The real surprise this week has been the Hot Rod class. The fastest-ever e.t. in the class has changed five times in just two days between Tim Hall’s International truck and Thomas Ciancitto’s Ford pickup. Hall has the quickest mark currently with a 10.282 (the fastest time before this year was Hall’s 11.329 run in Tulsa in 2014), though Ciancitto’s 10.344 is pretty darn close. Hall heads to Union Grove with a 0.104-second advantage, but expect that lead to continue flip-flopping through the week.

De aller raskeste gutta sleit litt med grepet i går og dessverre måtte gutta fra Australia med sin turbo Holden kaste inn håndkleet. Det samme måtte Jeffery Lutz med sin Honda V8. Her er resultatene etter dag 3;

Day Three of Drag Week plowed ahead, leaving a wake of broken race cars in its wake. Here’s how things have shaken down at the day’s end.

Tom Bailey made a 6.846 pass in his Pro Mod Camaro to hang onto his lead, but the word is that he ran his engine wounded on seven cylinders with a bent valve. He heads to Cordova International Raceway in Cordova, Illinois, with average e.t. for the week of 6.824 seconds and a 0.142-second lead over Bryant Goldstone’s AMC Javelin. Goldstone ran a 7.132 in the best of his three passes, which means he will not become the third person to run 6-second passes all week. His 6.966 average is second-best for the week so far. Bailey runs in the Unlimited class and Goldstone is in the Unlimited Iron class, which is a two-car class with Joe Barry’s gorgeous Belair averaging 7.115 this week.

In the Unlimited class, John Faraone’s Chrysler Valiant Charger from Australia, Jeffery Lutz Jr.’s Honda Civic, and David Schroeder’s 872-cubic-inch-powered Corvette all threw in the towel. Seven of the 15 Unlimited class cars have already retired.

The racing is extremely close in Pro Street Power Adder with Matthew Blasco’s matte black Dodge Dart—which his late mother bought for him many years ago when he was 15 for just $150—continues to lead the class with a 7.761-second average, but Glenn Hunter’s Belair (7.824) and Tom McGilton’s beastly twin-turbocharged Camaro ZL1 (7.831) both run within just 0.070 seconds of the class leader.

In Pro Street Naturally Aspirated, James “Doc” McEntire’s Camaro leads by an absurd two seconds with a 8.852-second average and Rick Prospero’s big-block-powered Mazda RX-7 leads Modified Power Adder with a very conservative (for Prospero) 8.205 average.

The Modified Naturally Aspirated class saw lots of drama very late in the day. Jay Brown made a half dozen runs today looking for an eight-second run. He finally got it and just before he did, his main comepetition—Brad Dyer, who was only 0.1 seconds behind in the class—came back through the paddock on a flatbed. If Dyer is out, that means that Brown leads the category by nearly 0.7 seconds.

If there’s such a thing as Drag Week All-Stars, George Gallimore and Frank Saponaro would be two of those in Super Street Big Block Power Adder. Gallimore ran a 7.752-second pass today to give a 7.699 average for the week in his nice, comfy 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo. Saponaro is chasing Gallimore in earnest with his beautiful teal Nova Wagon, clocking a 7.821 to average 7.847 for the week. The difference in the class then is a mere 0.148 seconds.

Vincent Rasch’s Pontiac Firebird leads Super Street Big Block Naturally Aspirated as the only 9-second car in the class. His lead in the class is nearly 0.6 seconds over Mark Covey’s purple Buick GS 455.

In Super Street Small Block Naturally Aspirated, Calvin Hayward’s pink Mustang is the fourth-fastest car overall at the moment. Hayward has nailed the one-and-done philosophy, knocking out a ridiculous 7.636 today to give an 7.607 average for the week, nearly 0.3 seconds clear in the class. Curt Johnson made a similar move in the Street Race Big Block Naturally Aspirated class. Like Jay Brown, he’s looking for a week of all 8-second passes. It took three tries for the first time this week, but he nailed it and was on the road by 11 a.m.

The “lower” Super Street and Street Race classes have the closest racing again today. In Street Race Big Block Power Adder, Doug Flynn’s unassuming Nova ran 8.909 to give an 8.689 average for the week. Kyle Coy’s Camaro trails by 0.3 seconds with Mike Burroughs just 0.016 seconds behind Coy in his own Nova. Chris Bishir leaves Great Lakes with an 8.579 average in Street Race Small Block Power Adder.

Street Race Small Block Naturally Aspirated saw each of the top two cars chasing hundredths and even thousands of seconds in multiple passes. Danny Roberts’ best run of 9.557 took a few runs, giving him an average of 9.545 with his metallic antifreeze-colored Chevy Malibu. Jason Tabscott’s white ’75 Camaro didn’t make a pass until the day’s last hour and he knocked a hundredth of a second off each of three passes to finish a 9.632, giving him 9.584 average. For those keeping track at home, that’s a 0.039-second average for the week.

In Gasser A, the defending champion Ford Ranchero failed to turn up, leaving Jim Forbes’ sealed-hood Chevy II to lead the class. Daniel Chisholm’s Chevy 210 leads the Gasser B class, as well.

The most entertaining race to watch is likely that in the Hot Rod class. Today was the first day of the week that didn’t feature a record e.t. in the class, though not for a lack of trying. Tim Hall’s International Truck ran a 10.227-second, which was only 0.019 off his best-ever pass yesterday. Thomas Ciancitto actually outpaced Hall today with a 10.214-second run (only 0.006 Hall’s best run from yesterday). As you might imagine, that leads to a very close battle in average e.t.’s with Hall sitting at 10.263 and Ciancitto at 10.329 for a 0.066-second gap. That wraps it up for the day from Union Grove, Wisconsin. Check out HotRod.com for more coverage and follow Hot Rod on Periscope for more looks into the travel to Cordova, Illinois overnight.

Bryant Goldstone håp om å kjøre 6`ere på alle banene ble knust i går men han leder Ultimate Iron klassen med sin AMC Javelin. Jeg syntes det er nokså kult at det er to "stålbiler" som kjemper helt i toppen sammen mot karbon Pro Mods;

Nr 2, Bryant Goldstone:

Nr 3, Joe Barry:

In the hunt for the overall win, Unlimited class competitor Tom Bailey ran a sufficient but unspectacular run in his Pro Mod Chevy Camaro with a 6.763-second run. There’s certainly more pace in the car, but that time keeps him in the overall lead with a 6.8090 average e.t. for the week. Bryant Goldstone’s AMC Javelin ran his third six-second run of the week with a 6.910 run. His 6.9525 average puts him 0.1435 second behind Bailey.

Goldstone runs in the Unlimited Iron class and leads that from Joe Barry, whose creamsicle Bel Air ran its second-ever 200 mile-per-hour pass with a 7.037-second e.t. He sits only 0.1435 second behind Goldstone, which is strangely the exact same gap that Goldstone trails Bailey. Elsewhere in the Unlimited category, Mike Wenzler ran a very tidy 7.626, giving him a 7.7033 weekly average.

The most exciting race of the day came in the Hot Rod class, where Tim Hall’s International Truck has led nearly all week after winning the category last year. He ran a respectable 10.314 today, but Thomas Ciancitto tossed down the gauntlet with a 10.090-second one-and-done run in his 1937 Ford Pickup. That was not only the fastest run ever in the class, it was also enough to just edge ahead of Tim Hall in the class by a mere 0.007 second. Both trucks traded the fastest-ever class e.t.’s at Gateway on Monday so expect those fireworks to only increase in intensity when Drag Week returns there tomorrow.

Another battle to watch tomorrow is in Street Race Small-Block Naturally Aspirated, where Danny Roberts metallic-antifreeze-colored Chevy Malibu and Jason Tabscott’s white Chevy Camaro have been fighting for hundredths of a second all week. Roberts has led from the outset, though the average e.t. gap has never been more than 0.1 second. After today’s racing, Roberts’ lead is just 0.0415 second over Tabscott’s wheelie-happy F-Body. Expect that pair—especially Tabscott—to run early and often tomorrow.

In Pro Street Power Adder, Matthew Blasco’s matte black Dodge Dart had led the class from Day 1, but his Turbo 400 transmission committed mechanical suicide at the 300-foot cone on his first pass of the day. The coasting-down 16-second e.t. knocked Blasco from the class lead while Glenn Hunter’s Bel Air picked it up with a smooth 7.771 pass. Hunter’s 7.8113 average e.t. is just 0.0392 ahead of Tom McGilton’s Camaro ZL1.

James McEntire started the day with a 2-second lead in Pro Street Naturally Aspirated, but his hemi-headed Chevy Camaro blew first gear in the TorqueFlite transmission on the car’s only pass. He immediately started thrashing on rebuilding the transmission and, theoretically, if he can get to Gateway and run a 17-second pass, he might be able to barely hang onto the class win. Lurking behind is an intensifying battle between Glenn Bridger and Billy Gebhart.

In Modified Power Adder, Rick Prospero continued to run his big-block Chevy Mazda RX-7 like a train. His 8.194-second run today nets him an 8.2028-second average for the week over Peter Johnson’s Mustang. Jay Brown continued to lead big, as well, in Modified Naturally Aspirated with his 1970 Shelby GT500. He was hoping for a week of all 8-second runs, but he settled for 9.139 seconds in his only run today to head to Gateway with a lead of nearly 0.7 second.

The dynamic duo in Super Street Big Block Power Adder of George Gallimore and Frank Saponaro continues to create the most entertaining visuals of any class battle. Gallimore’s 2-ton Chevy Monte Carlo looks fairly mundane when it launches, but it goes to warp speed around the 300-foot cone. He ran a 7.71-second pass early and bugged out. Saponaro’s beautiful teal Chevy Nova Wagon likes to pick up the front tires on its way to 7-second passes, including today’s run of 7.987 seconds. For the week Gallimore leads Saponaro with times of 7.7023 and 7.8823, respectively.

Like Gallimore, the leaders in Super Street Big-Block Naturally Aspirated (Vincent Rasch’s Pontiac Firebird), Super Street Small-Block Power Adder (Calvin Hayward’s pink Ford Mustang), and Street Race Big-Block Naturally Aspirated (Curt Johnson’s early-riser Ford Mustang) all made one-and-done passes after solidifying their respective leads.

In Super Street Small-Block Power Adder, Ray Meyers made the very first pass of the morning at 10.305 seconds. When class leader Jeffrey Sias made a bad pass in the morning, Meyers’ black Barracuda briefly led the class, but Sias drove the quarter-mile in 9.881 seconds for his second run to retake the class lead. Sias is the only driver to dip below 10 seconds in the class and he’s done it every day. To date, no one has yet run an all-9-second week in the class.

The same thing happened to Doug Flynn in Street Race Big-Block Power Adder with a coasted 16-second run first time around. Kyle Coy made the fastest pass of the day in the class at 8.751 seconds, but Flynn’s subsequent 9.131-second run retook the lead. That said, Flynn’s 8.8065-second average leads by only 0.1 second over Coy (8.9075), followed very closely by Randy Belahar’s wheel-standing Pontiac Firebird (8.9765) and Mike Burroughs’ Nova (8.9865).

Chris Bishir has steadily put his Chevy S-10 in the Street Race Small-Block Power Adder lead with 8.5- and 8.6-second runs. John Dodson sprang into second place in class over Ralph Hoke by 0.0195 second.

In the Gasser classes, Jim Forbes’ supercharged Chevy II leads by 0.2 second over Jay Grabiak’s Chevy 210 for the Gasser A win. Daniel Chisholm’s Chevy 210 is astonishingly quick and leads in Gasser B with a 9.5128 average e.t. for the week.

With only one day of racing and drivers clamoring for lots of run, Friday’s racing at Gateway Motorsports Park should produce plenty of drama. Until then, look for more coverage on HOTROD.com and check out Hot Rod Magazine on Periscope for live look-ins at the transit stages.
